Northwest of Voir, quiet on every map, and hiding more than one secret in its forests.
Capital: Kastania Proper.
Kastania presents itself to the rest of Voir as an unremarkable forested state, governed plainly from Kastania Proper. What the crown's maps do not show is Wyrdal, a township hidden deep in Kastania's woods for nearly two and a half centuries, and safer for staying that way.
What the maps also undersell is how well-defended Kastania actually is. Gilt, an ancient dragon, green-gold, older than the crown itself, keeps a cavern directly above the capital, and beside him flies Lady Sophia Kalila, the realm's first, and so far only, female Dragon Knight. Between them, Kastania fields a defense most of Voir's other states can only imagine having.
Guarding the borders on the ground is another matter entirely, and belongs to Macao. Sophia's own paramour, and a man who holds an open, absolute hatred for the Monitors, known to execute any who set foot in Kastania regardless of rank or errand. Ten years ago, that hatred became a mile-wide scar. Macao answered an invading Monitor legion with a single epic-level spell, acid and fire raining down together, and left nothing behind on the southern border but ash. Locals still call it the Scorched Scar, and it hasn't grown so much as a weed since.
